2017 Financial Therapy: Effective Strategies for Addressing Personal Finance Essues

Brian H. Farr, MA, LPC, will introduce a conceptual framework and therapeutic tools for working with the basic personal finance issues that can impact client mental health. You will gain insights and confidence to clinically explore the personal financial challenges inherent in consumer culture. Together, we will examine the impact of money on client core values, self-concept and sense of safety; demystify common resistance experienced by counselors when confronted with client financial issues; and gain an overview of the role and meaning of money in contemporary life. Brian Farr is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Portland, Oregon. His work with clients includes financial therapy, individual and couples counseling, and small business development. Since 2002, Brian has helped hundreds of individuals and couples explore their relationship with money, establish more effective habits for managing personal finances, and improve their mental health. Prior to becoming a counselor, Brian had a successful career in the world of business. He was a founding partner of an investment management firm, owner/manager of a personnel agency, and professional commodity broker at the Chicago Board of Trade. Brian has an MA in Counseling Psychology from Lewis & Clark College and a BA in History from Stanford University. BrianHFarr.com
